Overview

The Lil Hawks youth basketball program is a recreational league that provides boys and girls the opportunity to learn the game, develop skills, and play basketball. Teams practice once a week and play 7 regular season games plus a season end tournament. Lil Hawks is open to all boys in Grades 1-8 (4 divisions: Grades 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, & 7-8) and all girls in Grades 1-6 (2 divisions: Grades 1-3, & 4-6).

REGISTRATION:

Participation in the Lil Hawks Youth Basketball League is based on a first-come, first-served basis and spots are limited. Each division will have 6 teams, and each team will be capped at 8 players and once the max limit has been reached, we will close the registration and create a Wait List Registration. Upon successfully registering your player for Lil Hawks, you will receive an auto-generated confirmation email. There will be a Parent and Coaches Meeting on October 14th for all those participating.

SKILLS EVALUATION:

To ensure teams are balanced, every registered player will need to attend a Skills Evaluation. Each player is required to attend one session to participate. The 2023 Skills Evaluation will take place on October 14th. Further details are forthcoming. If your player cannot attend the Skills Evaluation they will be placed on a team by Coach Q and Coach Berry.

PRACTICE/GAMES:

Practices will begin the week of October 16th. Each team will be assigned 1 day a week to practice Monday-Wednesday. Practices are 1 hour long. Regular season games will occur November 4th – January 20th End-of-season tournament games will take place January 29th – 31st and February 3rd.

LIL HAWKS FEES:

Below is the breakdown of the 2023/24 Lil Hawks Fees . . . and all fees are due at the time of registration. Each player receives a brand-new uniform, included in the registration fee, that is theirs to keep.

Player Fees:

Online Processing Fee: $2.00
Total Metro Fees: $202.00

Sibling Discount: $30 reduced rate for each additional child in the league.

Hillgrove Teacher/Staff Discount: $50 reduced rate for each child in the league.

Discounts cannot be combined.

Refund Policy: 100% before 10/3, 50% after 10/3 and before 10/16, 0% after 10/16.

OTHER:

Coaches - We need coaches! Our league consists of parent volunteer coaches. Without coaches, we cannot put teams together. Select the appropriate box during registration to indicate your coaching interest. Each team will only be allowed one Assistant Coach. Coaches have input in determining their assigned practice night (where possible).

Same Team - We are unable to accommodate "same team" requests. Players are evaluated and drafted on teams to ensure competitive balance.
